The Benefit Concert is a treasured and much anticipated event for Program dancers and families every year at Nebraska Dance.
This year’s event was no exception, as our program dancers raised funds for the Heart Heroes organization. This year’s beneficiary was Heart Heroes, an Omaha-based non-profit that seeks to support children and families through their journey with congenital heart disease. The organization was founded in 2009 by a group of mothers who sought a way to make their children feel supported and empowered through their heart journey. A Heart Hero is a child with a Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), an abnormality of the heart present at birth. CHD can be detected prior to birth, at birth, or even later in life. Heart Heroes provides additional support to families through local events, camps and even meals to families with a loved one inpatient at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.
Petites, Jumpstart, Core, Troupe, Company, Tap Program, Team, and Crew all participated, by performing their dances for audiences in the packed house. The Benefit Concert raises funds for a local organization by encouraging donations to the organization in lieu of ticket sales.
Attendees were also able to enjoy snacks or lunch in the cafeteria throughout the day, while visiting with other families and spending time together. A highlight of the day was hearing from several families affected by CHD, and learning more about their own “Heart Heroes” within their families and how the Heart Heroes organization and their services has benefitted them.

We are excited to announce that as of the Benefit Concert date, we had already raised over $11,400! We are still collecting donations through June 4th, 2023, and we would love to have your support in helping us bless many more families affected by CHD!
